This project began by meeting individuals and groups in the remote Murchison region of WA to understand their perceptions of water quality. It resulted in recommending a simple method of champions in each town as liaison people for future interactions with Water Corporation in Perth.

Water Corporation wanted to change the perceptions about water of the people in the Murchison region of WA.  We were commissioned to visit this remote area on two occasions to understand the perceptions and issues relating to water quality. Liz was able to meet with individuals and groups and listen to a range of perspectives and articulate them in the language required for Water Corporation to communicate with them in the future. The approach also led to the recommendation of using 1-2 champions in each town as liaison people to strengthen the reputation of the organisation in these towns by having a local person who knew their objectives and who could act as local ‘trusted others’.
